  I'm totally biased. I was the original "Backdoor Doughnuts" baker! Yep, back in 1976-1978 it was called The Old Stone Bakery. Owner Peter J. White and I sweated all through the night to get the goodies out to the day trippers and locals. Then we started selling doughnuts out the backdoor to tipsy folks leaving the bars after close. It started just because we left the backdoor open to blow the hot air out and it drew em like flies to...well you know the rest. Best wishes to the present owners from a now old soul.

  If you like pastries and you are on the island this is a must try place!
  
  I HIGHLY recommend their apple fritters. My friends and family always ask for some whenever I visit. They are best warm, but they are still great warmed up!

  For years I refused to stand in line for a simple donut.
  
  I just couldn't fathom why people would spend precious moments of their vacation standing in a parking lot.
  
  My family was intent on eating the sweet noshings during this visit so I stood in line with them. When I got to the front of the line, I didn't have cash so I didn't order anything.
  
  Though the worker told me I could go to the ATM across the street and come back to the front of the line, I just caught up to my family who were waiting for me and left. They were ready to give me cash, but I just I took a bite of my sister's apple fritter and now I'm TOTALLY hooked.
  
  I get it. I get it.
  
  The line is worth it! I personally think the fritters are better than the donuts. However, they're massive and should be shared.
